My husband is so good to me. Last night he came home with the first 3 of 9 QB's he's making for me. He kept apologizing that they were 3/8" smaller than I had originally planned. (Me? I was going cut 2 sides, top, bottom and a shelf. Then I was going nail the snot out of them so they would stay together.) The top and bottom have a "rabbet" joint and the shelf has a "dado" joint. He tells me that they should be stronger than my "nail the snot out of them" method. He can be such a smarty pants, sometimes.
While I still have to sand the edges, prime, and paint them, I'm so excited about him making these for me. He works wonders with a couple pieces of wood. It must be hereditary because my boys are the same way. Give them a piece of wood and they can create beautiful pieces of art. I will be sure to share their work.
