So I have begun the office redecorating & organizing. The closet has been painted (and so has my hair, eyelashes, shirt, pants, and sneakers) and now I'm priming (then painting) the shelves. Needless to say, I'm watching paint dry.
I wish I had a program that would allow me to show you some of the imagery that is going through my head, but alas, those that exist are extremely expensive so I'll have to try to show you with words.
I want my office to be comfortable, inviting, and invigorating. I had some fabric that I fell in love with and "just had to have" but didn't know what I was going to use it for that gave me the idea. So, I've modified the palette to include some fabric inspired accent colors. (See below)

And the final result is...
I even recruited my husband to make me shelving instead of buying the ready-to-assemble products made out of particle board. Yay!
I thought I'd share the first item to tackle...the CLOSET! And yes, those are the god awful colors my son picked out for his room! What was I thinking!
So I spent all afternoon developing a plan to organize my house into smaller projects so I don't get discouraged, turn tail, and run.
c. Storage - doesn't have much at the moment
I've all ready taken the room's and closet's measurements, developed a storage planogram and searched
online for storage units (ClosetMaid's Cubeicles are going to work great!). I also found colorful file
holders, CD/DVD holders, and other small organizers that will go great in the space and be functional at
the same time!
I'm going to paint the desk, file cabinets, and book shelf white to match the storage units.
I chose white, kiwi green and chocolate brown as my color palette for this room. I'm so excited.
Before & After photos will be posted, I promise!
a. Under the sink
c. Linen Closet
3. Master Bedroom
d. Shelving - None at this time
4. T's Room (aka "The Man Cave")
b. Shelving - None
Since this room will be converted to "The Man Cave" I'm going to have to get my husband's input.
I did see a great futon at IKEA the last time I was there that would easily convert this space into a guest
bedroom. There is a beautiful dark wood table that has beautiful diagonal cut wood grain in the room
that he picked up at a garage sale. So ideas are spreading...one thing at a time tho'.
5. Living Room - this space confuses me. It's very long and is also the dining area.
a. Entertainment center (currently an old bureau my hubby picked up at an estate sale) needs to be
b. Hutch (matches the bureau, aka entertainment center)
c. Bureau (inherited) needs to be refinished
a. Cabinets (are in dire need of organizing)
b. Under the sink
7. Z's Room
b. Additional Closet space
c. Shelving - none
d. Drawers - a new chest of drawers is definitely called for in this space.)
8. Entry/Mud Room
b. Funky cut in space (it's hard to describe)
c. Coat Hangers
9. Storage Areas
a. Under the stairs
b. Utility Closet
a. Shelves - minimal at the moment
11. Studio - right now is in utter chaos and puts me in tears, so I saved this for last.
_So there's the plan. The timing will of course will be dependent on finances. I figure a room a month and I'll be done by December 31st!
