Getting it Together - After Holidays & into the New Year

1/5/2015

So it's a new year...already.  Every year we make resolutions to lose weight or quit smoking or get organized or spend more time with the family or do this or do that...yada, yada, yada.  We don't pick just one, NOOOOO, we have to sabotage ourselves by doing it all.  This year, I'm trying something a little different.  I am going to get organized AND I'm doing it a room at a time.  I started on my bedroom before Christmas.  I didn't like the way the furniture was placed so I moved it.  I love the set up.  My husband can get into his dresser and I to mine.  My rocking chair fits nicely in the corner and we can get to the closet.  But that's only the start...

The goal is to get each room (in this case, my bedroom) completely organized and everything with a place before moving onto the next room (my office/sewing room).  BUT, if the item doesn't have a place in that room it doesn't mean just throw it into another room...I actually have to find a place to for it.  Sometimes, that's easier said than done.  The holidays are over and the wrapping paper, tissue paper, ribbons, boxes and bows need to be put away.  For years, I've thrown them in a box and put them up in the rafters of the garage.  How do I get to the generic wrapping paper for birthdays, babies, and weddings when I needed it?  I would go out and buy more.  That's WRONG on so many levels.  So onto PInterest I go.

I needed a simple solution that would allow me to get to the wrapping paper when I needed it and keep it out of the way when I didn't.  It was a little overwhelming the number of gift wrapping organizers I found.  Good grief, who knew this was such an epidemic!

And if you're on a budget, there's always a solution to be found using something from IKEA and a little ingenuity.

So now that I have some ideas, I've got to figure out which one, if any, will work for me. [sigh]
