This is one of those "holidays" my husband and I have a jolly good time with by being goofy and irreverent. We do little things everyday to show we love and care for each other, so having one just one day a year is foolish to us.
It started when we first were dating. I got him a sassy card, that he proudly showed to his mother of all people. She burst out laughing (thankfully) and proceeded to tell him what it meant. Innuendo is not his strong point. After he got over the initial embarrassment, he started laughing too. *Whew*
Ever since that Valentine's Day we celebrate a "Senitnelav" Day (Valentine's spelled backwards) instead. We don't buy gifts, we tease each other (in a good and kind way), and if we buy a card it's very tongue in cheek...none of that mushy stuff for us.
We've been together for 24 years and learned a long time ago that we need to have fun and laugh together. It's helped us through the bad times, calmed us down when we were angry with each other, and made life spontaneous. I never know when he's going to "get" me next.
This was the ecard he sent to me while I was at work today. I burst out laughing and had to explain to a bunch of co-workers what was going on.
So to get even (in a fun way) I sent him this one. He's the one that always complains I pocket dial him.
Happy Senitelav's Day to all!
