Today, my husband's niece and her two children came to visit. We talked about the book she is writing. I showed her my plans for the office. We ate KFC for lunch. And I made rootbeer shakes for dessert.
Her children are 7 and 4. Our youngest son is 19. He is one of those people that young children gravitate towards. He doesn't understand why and frankly, neither do we. It just is. So while the adults were talking, he played "old school" video games with the kids. As those of you with children know...the more excited they get...the louder they get. It was wonderful. It's been a long time since we had "littles" in the house. The pure joy of making funny faces at each other, playing games, having a little one tug on your arm wanting your attention, all those little things that make them children fills up my heart.
It was a lovely visit. Rootbeer Shakes anyone?
