Someone posted this on Facebook and needless to say, I had to find out what this was all about. It's called "yarn bombing".
Yes, people there is such a thing as yarn bombing and it even has it own day!
According to Wikipedia,
"Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fiber rather than paint or chalk."
This is so creative, fun and EXPENSIVE! I thought I'd share some of my favorites from around the web.
Note: Yarn bombing may be considered illegal in some jurisdictions.
Always check with the city to make sure you won't be breaking any laws for yarn bombing on public property.
Get permission from property owners, in writing, if you want to install a yarn bomb on their property.
Maintain your yarn bomb and remove it before it becomes an eyesore.
Get creative and have fun!
