I said I would post the quilts my Grandma Birdie made for the boys and as I was doing so I also found an afghan Grandma Dottie made for one of the outfits.
This was the quilt Grandma Birdie made for our oldest. She even embroidered a "Made by" tag with the year.
This was the quilt she made for our youngest. Needless to say, after 13 grandchildren and 15 or 16 great grandchildren (even I forget how many there are), I wouldn't remember to put a tag on everything either. We kept her pretty busy with 7 babies and 4 weddings in 2 years, we were lucky she gave us the right gift.
This is the afghan Grandma Dottie made as part of a set (the jacket and bonnet are shown in yesterday's post. She really had a thing for those "Mile a Minute" afghans and could whip one out in a day or two.
I love unpacking boxes I haven't looked in for a while. It's like my birthday all over again. I found my old baby doll who is in desperate need of a dress (although I found her fur had and jacket) and my southern belle doll...I think one of the boys chewed her shoes. I also found the quilt my next door neighbors (when I was in high school) made me for my graduation. Everything has been washed and and put in storage bags to be put back in my "hope" chest when it's been refinished. *sigh* Memories.
